Edgemont is located inside the 610 Loop and is west of Rice University . The neighborhood was developed during the 1920s and 1930s and consists of bungalows and a few 1950s ranch houses. Edgemont is one the subdivision in Boulevard Oaks.
Boulevard Oaks is one of Houston 's premier inner city neighborhoods, noted for its beauty and grace. Its boundaries are the Southwest Freeway on the north, Morningside on the West, Bissonnet on the south, (plus the 5300 blocks of Cherokee and Mandell, and the 1700 blocks of Albans, Wroxton, and Bolsover), and Graustark/Parkway on the east. There are more than 1,200 residences, together with a smattering of commercial establishments around the borders.
Most of Boulevard Oaks was developed in the 1920s and early 1930s. The National Register of Historic Places designated the Boulevard Oaks Historic District, located within Boulevard Oaks and roughly bordered by North Boulevard, South Boulevard, Hazard Street, and Mandell Street, as a history district on February 22, 2002
